Our History Curriculum at The Haven
At The Haven, our history curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and develop critical thinking. Rooted in the national curriculum and enriched by our teachers’ expertise, it offers a rich journey through local, national, and global history. From the Early Years through to Year 6, pupils explore significant events, people, and places, building a secure sense of chronology and a strong grasp of key historical concepts such as power, migration, and change.
Children learn to think like historians—asking questions, analysing evidence, and drawing thoughtful conclusions. Our enquiry-based approach encourages pupils to investigate the past through engaging topics like “How have toys changed?”, “What did the Greeks ever do for us?”, and “What was the impact of World War II on British people?”. Lessons are inclusive, differentiated, and designed to challenge and inspire all learners.
By the time they leave The Haven, our pupils have developed not only a strong foundation in historical knowledge and skills but also empathy, perspective, and a deeper appreciation for the diverse world they live in.
