Striving for Excellence at The Haven

At The Haven, we are committed to making our school the very best it can be—for every child, every day. Our development priorities for 2025–2026 reflect our unwavering dedication to high-quality education, personal growth, and inclusive practice.

Our Key Priorities

Quality of Education

We are strengthening early reading through the implementation of Little Wandle in EYFS and KS1 and enhancing comprehension in KS2 with Destination Reader. In maths, we’re focusing on fluency and reasoning, supported by targeted teaching and professional development. We’re also committed to closing attainment gaps for advantaged pupils through high-quality, inclusive teaching.

Behaviour and Attendance

We aim to raise attendance levels for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND, ensuring equity across our school community. Lunchtime enrichment will be expanded to promote physical activity, creativity, and social interaction—supporting pupil wellbeing and engagement.

Personal Development and Wellbeing

We are developing pupil leadership opportunities to build confidence and community spirit. Our personal development curriculum is being refined to support wellbeing, character growth, and spiritual development in a coherent and meaningful way.

Early Years

A new daily phonics approach will help children build strong foundational reading skills. We’re also enhancing early writing through purposeful activities that support motor skills, letter formation, and composition.

Leadership, Teaching, Inclusion and Safeguarding

We are investing in subject leaders through targeted training and structured monitoring. A graduated approach to SEND support is being embedded, alongside comprehensive staff training. We’re also strengthening our use of Assessment for Learning strategies to improve engagement and outcomes across the school.
